NOOMMED stands for Night Owls Observing Moons, Meteors, Eclipses & Discoveries — and that’s pretty much the whole job description.

We’re a blog for people who’ve always thought, “I wish I knew what I was looking at up there.” No PhD required. No fancy gear required. Just a willingness to step outside, look up, and let the universe do its thing.

What we do

• Tell you what’s in the sky tonight in plain English.
• Give you simple viewing guides for meteor showers, eclipses, full moons, and planetary line-ups.
• Share the big space stories — new discoveries, missions, photos from telescopes — without the textbook tone.
• Help families and beginners turn “we should do that sometime” into “we did that last night.”

What we don’t do

• We don’t assume you know the difference between an azimuth and an aperture.
• We don’t bury the lede under 800 words of history.
• We don’t recommend gear you don’t need.

Why “Night Owls”?

Because the best stuff happens after most people have gone to bed. And because owls — like the best stargazers — are patient, curious, and quietly delighted by the dark.

Who’s behind this?

NOOMMED is an independent passion project run by amateur sky-watchers who got tired of bouncing between five different websites to figure out if it was worth setting an alarm. We trade screen time for sky time, and we’d love for you to come along.
