NOOMMED (“we,” “our,” “us”) publishes astronomy content and a free email newsletter at noommed.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your choices are. Questions? Email hello@noommed.com.
Who we are
NOOMMED is an independent astronomy publication operated from Delaware, United States. Our site address is https://noommed.com.
Information we collect
Newsletter signups. When you subscribe, we collect your email address (and any optional fields you provide) and store it with our email provider, Kit (kit.com). We use this information to send you the newsletter and related updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
Comments. If you leave a comment, the comment form collects the information you enter, plus your IP address and browser user agent, to help detect spam. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar (automattic.com/privacy) to check for a linked avatar. If you have a Gravatar profile, your avatar becomes visible next to your comment.
Server logs. Our hosting provider, IONOS, automatically records basic technical information about visits (IP address, request time, page requested, referrer, user agent) for security and performance. See the IONOS privacy policy for details.
Cookies. WordPress may set functional cookies when you leave a comment (to remember your name, email, and site) or when you sign in as an editor. We do not use advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics cookies at this time. If that changes, we will update this policy and add a consent notice where required.
Embedded content. Some posts may embed content from other sites (for example, videos or images). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other site directly and may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with that content.
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Send the NOOMMED newsletter and confirm your subscription.
- Publish and moderate comments you submit.
- Keep the site secure and running.
- Understand which topics readers find useful, in aggregate.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing.
Who we share information with
- Kit — stores newsletter subscribers and delivers our emails. See the Kit privacy policy.
- IONOS — hosts the website and email forwarding. See the IONOS privacy policy.
- Gravatar / Automattic — may display avatars for commenters who use the service.
- Law enforcement or legal process — where we are required by law to disclose information.
How long we keep information
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Approved comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up replies can be recognized and displayed. If you register an account or leave a comment, you can request that we export or erase any personal data we hold about you (see below).
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To make a request, email hello@noommed.com from the address on file. We do not use these requests to override any legal obligation to retain certain data.
Children
NOOMMED is family-friendly, but our newsletter is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Meaningful changes will be noted with a new “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
